Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has secured two shipbuilding orders from Carnival to construct two large-sized cruise ships for its AIDA Cruises brand.

The vessels are scheduled to be delivered in spring 2015 and spring 2016 from MHI’s shipyard in Nagasaki, Japan.

MHI said that the two vessels will be of 125,000gt and can each accommodate 3,250 passengers.

Carnival currently operates 101 ships, with ten new ships scheduled for delivery between 2012 and 2016.

The contracts are subject to financing.
