Seri Cenderawasih will be leased on long-term charter to Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), and has been procured by MISC as part of its wider fleet expansion programme.

PETRONAS downstream business executive vice-president and CEO Encik Md Arif Mahmood said: “The delivery of Seri Cenderawasih augurs well for PETRONAS’ long partnership with MISC.

“As one of the leading players in the global LNG business, it is imperative for PETRONAS to ensure that we deliver a safe and reliable supply of energy to power hundreds of industries and millions of homes around the world.

“The partnership with MISC has enabled PETRONAS to attain our aspirations, and I am confident that the addition of Seri Cenderawasih to its fleet will strengthen MISC’s leadership position in the global LNG transportation business.”

"I am confident that the addition of Seri Cenderawasih to MISC’s fleet will strengthen its leadership position in the global LNG transportation business."

Designed to operate in harsh meteorological environments, the new vessel features an improved cargo containment system, as well as eco-friendly technologies such as energy efficiency, emissions reductions, biodiversity management, and an end-of-life disposal system.

Seri Cenderawasih also complies with the latest International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Tier III requirements; it is powered by an Ultra Steam Turbine (UST) and features an ozone ballast water treatment system.

In addition, the vessel includes various systems designed to improve the overall structural strength of the hull, including an integrated hull structure (IHS) with four spherical tanks shielded by a continuous cover.
