Qatar ports management company Mwani Qatar has received an International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) certification for its Integrated Management System (IMS).

The certification was awarded by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) following an external audit process.

COMS Vantage Consulting has also supported the certification process.

Mwani Qatar’s IMS combines three previously ISO-certified systems into one integrated platform.

The three systems include quality management, environmental management and occupational health and safety management solutions.

Mwani Qatar chief support services officer Mohammed Al Maadeed said: “These certificates are an endorsement of Mwani Qatar's quality management approach, and its commitment to the highest standards and world-class best practices aimed at enhancing quality of the services provided.”

Mwani Qatar also seeks to improve customer services and meet consumer needs in a more efficient manner using the IMS.

"These certificates are an endorsement of Mwani Qatar's quality management approach, and its commitment to the highest standards and world-class best practices."

Additionally, the integrated platform is expected to help the port authority develop internal capabilities and competencies in accordance with Qatar’s Ministry of Transport and Communications’ proposed development strategy.

In a separate development, Mwani Qatar signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Qatar Chemical and Petrochemical Marketing and Distribution Company (Muntajat) to use Hamad Port’s services for a renewable five-year period.

The MoU will see Muntajat export various shipments via Hamad Port to various destinations worldwide.

Mwani Qatar will be responsible for providing container loading and unloading services at Hamad Port's berths, as well as offering and developing support services for containers and trucks.
