Navis, a US-based provider of operational technologies and services for terminal operators, has entered into a new N4 terminal operating system (TOS) licensing agreement with Chilean terminal, Puerto Lirquen in Chile.
The newly selected N4 TOS will increase terminal capacity and improve productivity of Puerto Lirquen.

The deal will also enable the terminal to optimise its operations and maintain competitive advantages with a more modern platform.
Furthermore, the terminal’s main operational challenges, such as vessel productivity and optimum use of gate and yard will be addressed by the N4 TOS.
Puerto Lirquen managing director Juan Alberto Arancibia said: "Our decision to select N4 is part of a larger investment plan to expand and modernise operations across the board, including the addition of mobile cranes, reach stackers, port trucks, a newly paved yard and an extension of our pier that can berth vessels up to 367m.

Puerto Lirquen is the largest private port of public service in Chile and manages a 280,000 twenty foot equivalent unit (TEU) capacity annually.
The port provides services for shipping companies, importers and exporters, focusing on container and break bulk cargo.
Currently, the port maintains gate, yard and vessel productivity, zero electronic data interchange (EDI) transmission errors, as well as providing equipment to its customers.
Recently, Maher Terminals, located at the Port of New York/New Jersey, upgraded its NAVIS N4 terminal operating system from N4 2.2 to the 2.6 version.
