Hamburg-based Peter Dohle Schiffahrts has awarded a contract to Northrop Grumman for the delivery of its Integrated Bridge Systems, for integration into seven of its new bulk carrier vessels.
As part of the contract, Northrop’s Sperry Marine business unit is responsible for the delivery of navigation, voyage data recorders and radio systems to Jiangsu Hantong Shipyard in Nantong, Jiangsu, China.
Northrop Grumman Sperry Marine managing director Jeanne Usher said: “This award extends the long-standing business relationship that we have with Peter Döhle.
“These new bulk carriers will be equipped with a broad array of the most advanced navigation and data systems commercially available today.”
The complete Integrated Bridge System package will include VisionMaster FT radars, VisionMaster FT ECDIS, magnetic compass system, Echosounder, VoyageMaster G4 Voyage data recorder, Gyrocompass, GMDSS radio, autopilot and steering control system and speed logs.
With the installations scheduled to commence during the second half of the year, the deliveries of the 38,800dwt bulk carriers are planned to take place between April 2015 and September 2016.
