Japan’s Sumitomo has won an order from Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) to build three new post-Panamax dry-bulk vessels.
Each of the 95,000dwt vessels will be classed by ClassNK and built by Sumitomo subsidiary Oshima Shipbuilding.
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) will provide green technology to help the vessels achieve a 25% reduction in CO2 emissions through hull form and advanced propulsion systems.
The company said that the addition of three new bulkers will increase its fleet to 11 bulkers, which include handysize to panama vessels.
