Norway-based Telenor Maritime has provided communications services, including mobile and Wi-Fi services, on-board the entire fleet of Color Line.
Designed to support complete digital operations, the communications services will improve connectivity and customer experience aboard the Color Line fleet.
The services are leveraged on a THOR-7 Ka high-performance satellite that provides coverage across Europe and in the northern regions where Color Line operates.
Upon completion of the installation, Color Line will be able to offer full Wi-Fi coverage on its vessels by the first quarter of next year.
Telenor Maritime CEO Frode Støldal said: “Telenor Maritime is a mobile company at sea, placing the mobile in the centre of all we do.
“With our connectivity platform, we take full end-to-end responsibility for connecting the applications; the access layer with the on-board mobile and Wi-Fi systems; and the backhaul from Ka/Ku satellite and land-based mobile broadband from our network of global operators.
“The introduced connectivity platform will be a major steppingstone for the ongoing digital transformation within Color Line. Our focus is always to improve the end user experience, and improve operational efficiency.”
In March, Telenor Maritime secured a deal to provide and operate its high speed 4G-network on Statoil’s 34 platforms located at Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS).
The six-year deal has an option to extend for another four years, and will enhance communications between platforms, rigs and supply-vessels.
