Ocean Power Technologies (OPT) has agreed a partnership with Mythos AI to install autonomy software across the former’s WAM‑V autonomous surface vehicles (ASVs) and PowerBuoy platforms.
According to OPT, merging its ocean platforms and systems integration experience with Mythos AI’s autonomy architecture will support longer operations, flexibility, and a range of uses at sea.

The partnership is said to support OPT’s strategy to deliver modular, persistent systems that combine power, autonomy and communications to assist customer operations in complex maritime environments.
OPT president and CEO Philipp Stratmann said: “This partnership should strengthen our ability to deliver high-performance autonomous maritime systems that are flexible, scalable, and ready for real-world missions.
“By integrating Mythos AI’s autonomy framework, we believe OPT will accelerate how quickly and broadly we can deploy advanced capabilities for our customers, without limiting the openness of our platforms or our ability to customise solutions.”
Under the agreement, Mythos AI’s autonomy stack will integrate with OPT’s existing WAM‑V fleet, and initial demonstrations are scheduled for the first quarter (Q1) of 2026.

Later phases will explore vehicle-buoy collaboration, the companies said.
Mythos AI CEO Geoff Douglass said: “Mythos AI is excited to collaborate with OPT to push the boundaries of intelligent autonomy on the water.
“OPT’s robust, field-proven platforms provide an exceptional foundation to showcase how software-driven autonomy can transform maritime operations.”
OPT said that the integration will allow it to provide a single autonomy ecosystem that includes hardware, power and AI software.
The company also expects the collaboration to broaden its addressable market by reinforcing its position in autonomous and intelligent systems for defence, security and commercial customers.
In September this year, OPT announced a strategic partnership with Gradient Marine to strengthen its digital twin and simulation capabilities.
Through this collaboration, OPT will integrate Gradient Marine’s Virtual Maritime Picture software into its operations.
