Japanese shipping company Ocean Network Express (ONE) announced FLX, a new service connecting the West Coast of South America to the East Coast of North America.

The FLX service is set to launch in September 2023, with a focus on serving companies that want dependable South American reefer container transportation.

The service additionally aims at expanding shipping possibilities and streamlining supply chain processes.

According to ONE, Latin American reefer container transportation has seen remarkable growth, nearly doubling over the past few years due to homegrown South American produce.

ONE managing director Yu Kurimoto highlighted the cultural advantages that opening South America can offer: “We aim to share South America’s distinctive flavours with people across the globe. With our FLX and LUX services, we are excited to open new doors for businesses and individuals, enabling them to enjoy the authentic tastes of this vibrant region.”

With the aim of improving the quality of transport services, ONE is also investing in cutting-edge equipment such as Control Atmosphere containers and telemetry devices.

The Singapore-based company have stated that these new investments mark a significant milestone in its digitalisation strategy.

To maintain schedule consistency, the FLX service will deploy four of ONE’s fleet of vessels.

With one of the quickest travel times on the market, this service will connect Callao and Paita (Peru) and Guayaquil (Ecuador) to South Florida.

Furthermore, FLX offers direct service from South Florida to Honduras, as well as Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.

ONE’s services may be smoothly integrated with other services to the United States, East Coast South America, Europe, the Caribbean and Asia via major ports such as Cartagena (Colombia) and Callao (Peru).
