OOS International Group has revealed the design of its new semi-submersible crane vessel (SSCV), which will be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The design was developed as part of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that was signed between the company and China Merchants Group subsidiary China Merchants Industry Holdings (CMIH) in July.

The MoU covered both the basic design and construction of the SSCV, which is set to be named OOS Zeelandia.
OOS Zeelandia will comprise two cranes with a lifting capacity of 12,000t each.
It is expected to be used for platform removal and installation works in deepwater environments.
The companies intend to establish and maintain a strategic partnership based on the vessel’s engineering and construction as part of the MoU.

By GlobalDataThe vessel’s aft crane will be equipped with a 360° rotating dynamic positioning (DP) work bridge, which will allow DP operators and crane drivers to be seated next to each other.
In addition, the SSCV will feature a large open deck space for the positioning and transportation of heavy modules, while a large hotel capacity will also be integrated into the vessel’s deck box.
The ICE Class 1B LNG vessel will be able to reach a high transit speed of up to 15.4k upon completion.
It will also operate with a reduced fuel consumption rate compared to other models due to its ship-shaped, asymmetric design.

OOS International is currently operating two SSCV units, which are being deployed to assist in the renovation and maintenance of Petrobas’ production platforms in Brazil.
