Paraguay-based Terport Villeta terminal has gone live with Navis’ N4 terminal operating system (TOS).

The terminal is operated by Terport Terminales Portuarias and opened its gates for business at the end of October.

Deployment of N4 TOS will enable Terport Villeta to expand its operations and cargo status.

Terport Villeta CIO Nery Espinola said: “As we were planning for Terport Villeta, we wanted to source the best equipment and technology available for our customers.

“N4 was a natural fit for our state-of-the-art facility and we were confident in its ability to deliver seamless operations due to the success we have seen in our San Antonio location.

“With N4 at the centre of our operations, we’ll be able to achieve next-level productivity while operating with quality, safety and efficiency.”

The first phase of Terport Villeta is a greenfield facility and has been developed over a period of three years that include more than two years of construction.

“With N4 at the centre of our operations, we’ll be able to achieve next-level productivity while operating with quality, safety and efficiency.”

Situated on the Paraguay-Panama Waterway, Terport Villeta is the second terminal operated by Terport Terminales Portuarias.

Terport Terminales Portuarias has so far invested $40m to develop the facility. It is the only terminal in Paraguay to feature 100% electric rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs).

Since its commissioning, Terport Villeta has reportedly handled over 100,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) of cargo.

Terport Villeta plans to start the second phase of Terport Villeta next year with the installation of new quay cranes, RTGS systems and additional capacity for annual TEU.
