The value of the contract has not been disclosed.

The vessel is currently in Singapore where it is being converted from a Moss liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier to an FLNG unit.

TMC sales and business development director Hans Petter Tanum said: “Our Smart Air compressor technology offers precise control of the compressor speed, which means that they can run more efficiently than traditional compressors.

“As a result, Smart Air compressors offer up to 50% reduction in energy consumption, with similar reduction in CO₂ emissions and operational costs.”

As part of the Greater Tortue / Ahmeyim project, the vessel will be situated at the Senegal and Mauritania maritime border after installing the compressed air system.

Gimi FLNG is expected to produce approximately 2.5 million tonnes of LNG a year.

Tanum added: “Golar LNG is dedicated to reducing both the environmental footprint and operating expenditure of the Gimi FLNG. Our Smart Air compressors are specially designed for marine application and lowest possible energy consumption, so I believe they are a good match for the vessel’s strict requirements.”

In June, TMC won a contract from naval architecture and marine engineering firm Vard to deliver the compressed air system for two cruise ships.
