Germany-based TUI Cruises has received a new vessel, New Mein Schiff 2, from Meyer Turku shipyard.

Mein Schiff 2 sailed to Kiel, Germany, from Turku, Finland, in order to avoid ice in the Turku archipelago as the silicone painting of the hull’s underwater part is not designed to endure icy water.

Meyer Turku and TUI Cruises have utilised the feedback provided by the passengers of TUI Cruise’s previous ships to further improve the design of Mein Schiff 2.

Meyer Turku CEO Jan Meyer said: “The passengers will surely notice and hopefully like the differences to the previous ships.

“We have redesigned many of the areas of the ship, for example, the Schau Bar and the restaurant area in front of the aft diamond structure.”

“The commissioning of our new Mein Schiff 2 marks the successful end of our first expansion phase.”

The Malta-flagged vessel is 315m-long, 36m-wide and designed to carry 3,132 passengers and 1,092 crew members.
