Marine technology company Wartsila has signed LNG support agreements for eight LNG carrier vessels owned by Teekay Gas, a unit of the global Teekay Group.
The two, five-year agreements pertaining to four vessels each were signed in August and September.

The agreements became effective one month after their signing.
Earlier, Wartsila supplied the LNG reliquefaction systems on board all of the ships covered under the agreements.
Under the contract, the company will offer both remote and 24/7 technical support for the vessels’ on board Gas Process Plants.
Wartsila will use its digital OPERIM (Operational Performance Improvement & Monitoring) tool to carry out analysis of the process plants.

Wartsila Gas Solutions services director Rene Christian Olsen said: “Lifecycle support to our customers’ installations is a central pillar in the strategy of Wartsila Gas Solutions. Agreements such as these are the best way for ensuring that the products, systems and solutions that we deliver are properly maintained, and that their reliability and performance are at the optimal level.”
Wartsila has provided numerous products for Teekay’s fleet over its long-standing relationship.
Last week, Wartsila received a contract to deliver 14 engines and related emissions control after-treatment systems for two new Swiss inland ferries.
The passenger ferries are being constructed for General Navigation Company (CGN) at the Shiptec AG yard in Switzerland.
In addition, CBO, a Brazilian operator of offshore support vessels, signed an agreement with Wartsila for the conversion of a vessel from its fleet to operate with hybrid propulsion.
The company placed the contract with the technology group Wartsila in October.
