Construction engineering company Cadeler has successfully expanded its fleet with the delivery of the Wind Maker, a next-generation wind turbine installation vessel.

The Wind Maker, named at a ceremony at the Hanwha Ocean Shipyard in Korea on 27 January, is the first of two M-class vessels designed to install the latest offshore wind turbines.

The Wind Maker joins Cadeler's portfolio as the sixth vessel, marking a “significant” step in the company's strategic fleet expansion.

Designed to operate in water depths of up to 65 metres, it is a self-propelled jack-up vessel with DP2 capability for efficient transit and positioning.

It is engineered to withstand extreme weather conditions and operate at challenging offshore wind installation sites.

The vessel features a high-capacity 2,600-tonne main crane, capable of installing heavy foundations and turbine components.

Cadeler CEO Mikkel Gleerup said: “Today marks a significant achievement in our strategic fleet expansion and the successful culmination of years of planning and innovative engineering.

Wind Maker is already contracted for deployment immediately after its delivery and she and her sister vessel have secured a pipeline of exciting wind farm projects.

“As a reliable partner in the offshore wind industry, our success depends on our ability to adapt and meet the evolving demands of our clients, both today and in the years to come.”

Wind Maker’s sister vessel, Wind Mover, is expected to join the fleet in the fourth quarter of 2025, further enhancing Cadeler's service offerings.

In 2022, Cadeler awarded Cosco Heavy Industries the task of building a new F-class vessel, marking the second of its kind for Cadeler and expanding its jack-up fleet for the offshore wind sector to six vessels.
