The Celebrity Eclipse is the third cruise ship in the planned five-ship Solstice-class of Celebrity Cruises.
The ship is being built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.
The ship will accommodate over 2,850 passengers and have 1,426 cabins.

The Celebrity Eclipse is the third cruise ship in the planned five-ship Solstice-class of Celebrity Cruises. It is the sister ship of the Celebrity Solstice and Celebrity Equinox, which entered service in 2008 and 2009, respectively. The fourth ship, named Celebrity Silhouette, will enter service by the third quarter of 2011.

The Celebrity Eclipse was built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. The keel laying took place at the yard’s building dock II in January 2009. The ship, built in block construction method, has 72 blocks. It was launched in February 2010 and delivered in April 2010.

The Celebrity Eclipse is scheduled to sail from Southampton, UK, in April 2010 and will offer cruises to the Mediterranean and northern Europe.

The 122,000t ship hasan overall length of 31,720m, a breadth of 36.80m and can sail at 24kt. The ship is equipped with energy-saving systems. It has been constructed in accordance with the latest stability regulations.

Staterooms

The ship can accommodate over 2,850 passengers and has 1,426 cabins. The 13-deck ship features larger standard staterooms. About 90% of the staterooms are outside rooms and 85% of staterooms have verandas.

The suite rooms on board include Penthouse, Royal, Celebrity and Sky suites. These rooms occupy an area of 300ft&178; to 1,291ft&178;, along with the veranda space of 79ft&178; to 389ft&178;. The suites feature floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors, a bedroom, a separate living room with dining area, a full bar and an entertainment system with LCD television, mini-refrigerator, bathroom, veranda with whirlpool and lounge seating. Amenities in the suites include a European-style butler service, champagne, personalised stationery, dining room seating preference, private portrait sittings, Frette bathrobes and daily fresh-cut flowers.

The ship’s accommodation has veranda staterooms such as AquaClass, Sunset veranda, Conceirge Class, Family Ocean View W/Veranda and Deluxe Ocean View W/Veranda. The guests staying in the AquaClass have unlimited access to the AquaSpa relaxation room, Persian Garden and Blu restaurant. The veranda staterooms feature floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors, sitting area with a sofa, LCD TV, wireless internet access and two convertible queen-sized beds.

Public rooms

The ship has a Lawn Club for casual outdoor activities, and the Cellar Masters bar, which offers a wide variety of wines. The other bars in the ship include Martini, Crush and Passport.

The Quasar is an adults-only nightclub. The Café al Bacio is a coffee shop which serves Italian ices and gelatos.

The Fortunes Casino offers 16 gaming tables and guests can relax by playing cards in the card room located in the atrium. The spacious library on board features magazines and books. Guests can also enjoy music at the Ensemble Lounge and Michael’s Club.

The Celebrity Eclipse features speciality restaurants along with the main dining room. The Murano Restaurant offers classic and modern continental cuisines along with a range of wines. The Tuscan Grille Restaurant serves Italian food while the cuisines of India, China, Japan, Vietnam and Thailand are served at the Silk Harvest Restaurant. The Blu is a speciality restaurant especially for AquaClass guests. Guests can also visit alternative dining venues such as the Bistro on Five, the Oceanview café and bar and the AquaSpa café.

Facilities

The Celebrity Central theatre is located on deck 3 and hosts comedy shows, musical performances and films. An art gallery showcases fine arts of renowned artists. The AquaSpa on deck 10 features a solarium, private treatment rooms, a relaxation room and lap pool, a Persian garden and fitness centre.

The Sky Conference Center on the Lido deck can accommodate up to 200 guests. The X Club is a specially created area for teenage guests. Children between three and 12 years are welcome at the Fun Factory.
