Spirit of Adventure is a cruise ship owned and operated by UK-based Saga Cruises.

The vessel is being developed by Meyer Werft at its manufacturing facility in Papenburg, Germany. It will be the sister ship of Spirit of Discovery, which was delivered in June 2019. The new vessel will replace the Saga Sapphire cruise ship, which entered service in 1981.

The keel of the Spirit of Adventure was laid during a ceremony held in Papenburg in June 2019. The vessel is expected to be delivered to Saga Cruises by summer 2020.

Spirit of Adventure cruise ship design and features

The new cruise ship will offer spacious accommodation and versatile dining facilities to guests on board. The overall length of the ship will be 774.3ft (236m) with a maximum beam of 102.4ft (31.2m) and gross registered tonnage (GRT) of 58,250t.

Spirit of Adventure will be manned by a crew of 517 crewmembers and will provide accommodation for 999 guests. It will provide multiple free services, including Wi-Fi, around the clock room service, and entertainment.

The ship will also offer other premium services such as optional chauffeur service for passengers to the port.

Spirit of Adventure cruise ship deck layout

Spirit of Adventure integrates a total of ten decks. The lower most deck is designated as the main deck and will feature The Living Room, The Dining Room, The Spa, Spa pool, treatment room, and changing rooms.

The second deck, which will be the Promenade deck, will include playhouse, ward room, gallery, the North Cape Bar, and multiple restaurants.

Upper decks A, B, C, D, and E are designed to offer accommodation facilities for guests. The eighth deck, Lido deck, will feature dining facilities, The Britannia Lounge, and an outdoor pool named The Lido.

The Sun deck will offer a playing area for outdoor sports, fitness centre and a gym. The top deck or the observation deck will integrate a sports court.

Accommodation onboard Spirit of Adventure

Spirit of Adventure is designed to offer 554 all-balcony cabins, which will provide a private space for passengers.

Designed by AD Associates, standard twin cabins will cover an area of 215ft² and offer a boutique-like feel to the incumbents. The forward suite will measure 855ft² and will be equipped with the largest balconies on the ship.

The ship will feature 100 single cabins in multiple configurations such as standard single and superior single. Other accommodation categories include mid-ship suites, single suites, and deluxe single suites.

Interiors of the cabins will reflect British cultural heritage. Cabins will be equipped with large king-size beds, private bathroom, turndown services, and tea / coffee making facilities.

Dining and entertainment venues

Spirit of Adventure will feature multiple restaurants and renowned dining facilities offering speciality drinks and dishes to passengers.

Main dining facilities on board the cruise ship include Dining Room, Nepalese restaurant Khukuri House, Italian restaurant Amalfi, and the Supper Club.

Spirit of Adventure itineraries

Spirit of Adventure will embark on her maiden voyage in summer 2020. The 17-night round trip will start from Dover, UK, and travel to St Petersburg, Russia, through the North Sea and the Baltic Sea.

The cruise ship will then embark on its second voyage in September 2020 on a 14-night round-trip from Dover to Southwold, UK. It will also offer cruise services around Norway, Spain, the Caribbean, and the Canary Islands.
