TWO-STROKE LOW-SPEED ENGINES

The world market-leading two-stroke MC engine programme from MAN B&W Diesel has evolved since the early 1980s to embrace bore sizes from 260mm to 1,080mm. The output band covered extends from 1,500kW to more than 97,000kW per engine.

Enhancing the overall programme, electronically controlled ME engine versions of the same well-proven engine designs were recently added to the product range.

MEDIUM-SPEED ENGINES

Medium-speed engines are a major force in cargo and passenger ship propulsion and hence play a valuable role in facilitating world trade. Four-stroke engines of this type from MAN B&W Diesel offer a power to weight ratio that makes them ideal for cruise vessels, ferries and large multi-purpose freighters.

HIGH-SPEED ENGINES

MAN B&W Diesel Ltd is a world leader in supplying diesel engines for many types of marine applications including propulsion and on-board power generation. The RK and VP series engines are used extensively worldwide in fast and conventional ferries, Naval, offshore and general commercial marine vessels.

MARINE GENSETS

A wider range of services and automated systems has increased the demand for electricity on board ships. MAN B&W Diesel supplies engines or complete generating sets to secure reliable and economical power generation.

Modern auxiliary engines are run on the same high-viscosity fuel grades as the main engines to maximise economy.

PROPELLERS

A range of controllable pitch propellers is available with diameters up to approximately 8,500mm and rated for engine outputs of up to 30,000kW.

TURBOCHARGERS

MAN B&W Diesel has expertise in turbochargers dating back to 1934, when its first turbocharger for a diesel engine was developed. Today the company designs and manufactures modern high efficiency exhaust gas turbochargers with either radial or axial turbines. The output spectrum of the turbochargers both for two and four-stroke engine ranges from 300kW to 33,200kW per turbocharger. Power turbines are also offered as the basis of Turbo Compound Systems.
