Trieste-based shipbuilders Fincantieri announced its second contract with Four Seasons Yachts, the new arm of Four Seasons Hotels offering “luxury yacht experiences.”

The new contract is worth more than €400m ($435.6m) but is subject to financing arrangements.

The second “ultra-luxury” vessel will be delivered by 2026, following the first scheduled delivery in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Four Seasons Yachts is jointly operated by Marc-Henry Cruise Holdings and the Four Seasons hotel group.

The new luxury cruise operator expects to open reservations towards the end of 2023 to set sail in 2025. The first itineraries will include the Mediterranean and the Caribbean and are expected to link to existing Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.

Four Seasons said the environmental impact of the new yachts is paramount, with a focus on non-carbon fuels.

“Green energy fuels, zero-emission energy sources when possible (such as solar and shoreside electrical power), water and waste management, air emissions far better than international requirements, HVAC air treatment and purification, extensive waste recycling [will be used],” the product website says.

Fincantieri’s CEO Pierroberto Folgiero commented that the project was “unique” and said the contract is “proof of the validity of a unique entrepreneurial project destined to change the world of cruises in terms of design, technology and sustainability.

“Today’s result also bears witness to the start of the orders recovery for the sector, at the same time reinforcing Fincantieri’s leadership in the new extra-luxury segment based on haute hôtellerie,” Folgiero added.
