The systems will be installed on four cruise ships that are under construction for MSC Cruises.

In 2018, MSC Cruises signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with Fincantieri to deliver four ultra-luxury cruise ships. The first of the four is scheduled to commence operations in the first half of 2023.

The vessels will weigh approximately 64,000 gross tonnes and will have 500 cabins.

Three ships will come into service every year over the next three years.

The vessels will have the latest environmental technology and other advanced maritime solutions.

TMC will supply its Smart Air compressed air system to four ships to provide working and service air, and air compressors for the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system of the ship.

Compared to traditional compressors, TMC’s Smart Air compressors can save up to 50% energy.

TMC sales and business development director Hans Petter Tanum said: “Along with the rest of society, today’s cruise passengers are increasingly environmentally conscious.

“The ambitions of the modern cruise lines and shipbuilders help drive this trend by designing and constructing vessels that protect the ocean specifically and the environment in general.

“This is also the crux of our Smart Air technology, which contributes towards a greener cruise industry.”

Earlier this month, TMC received a contract from global FPSO provider Yinson to develop marine compressed air system for FPSO Anna Nery.

Last month, Fincantieri announced that the new cruise ship, MSC Seashore, was floated out at its Monfalcone shipyard in Italy.

The cruise ship is a part of the four vessels in MSC Cruises’ Seaside Class of ships.
