MacGregor, a part of Cargotec, has been selected by German shipping firm Hapag-Lloyd for the supply of container lashing systems for 12 container vessels with a capacity of more than 23,500 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) each.
Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) will construct the vessels in South Korea.

Hapag-Lloyd is expected to receive the new vessels starting from the second quarter of next year and ending in the fourth quarter of 2024.
MacGregor has worked with Hapag-Lloyd, from the early stages of the project, on the concept design and cargo system configuration for the vessels.

The programme began with the loading of the first retrofit propeller in the Port of Hamburg, Germany.
With 253 container ships, which have a total capacity of 1.8 million TEU, Hapag-Lloyd is claimed to be the world’s fifth largest container carrier.
Employing around 11,500 people across the globe, MacGregor provides maritime cargo and load-handling products, services and solutions for shipbuilders, shipowners and operators.
In March, MacGregor won contracts worth more than $15m for the supply of comprehensive packages of Ro-Ro equipment for four Höegh Autoliners Aurora-class pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs).
