Germany-based MAN Energy Solutions has opened a shipyard service station on Liuheng Island, Zhoushan, China.

The 560m2 workshop, dubbed MAN PrimeServ Service Station, is located within Zhoushan Xinya Shipyard, the largest privately owned shipyard in China.

MAN Energy Solutions China managing director and Asia Pacific Engine and Marine Systems head Jeffrey Ang said: “Customer-oriented service is the key to our PrimeServ business.

“The launch of the new PrimeServ service station will ensure more prompt service for ship owners calling at Xinya Shipyard for dockings and repairs.”

The service centre, which is the company’s first in cooperation with a local shipyard, will be staffed with four engineers, one sales manager and four fitters.

Customised to MAN’s needs and standards, the workshop features tools such as a 10t overhead crane, dynamic balancing machine, honing machine and lathe.

“We look forward to working together with MAN to add value to customers calling at our yard.”

Apart from on-board services, the new facility will also offer repair and overhaul services for diesel engines, propellers and turbochargers.

Overhaul services will include crankshaft overhaul, FIVA / HPS overhaul, and all types of fuel parts overhauling.

Other services offered at the station will include cylinder liner honing, wavecut for two-stroke engines, piston rod grinding, turbocharger balancing, reconditioning for cylinder covers, piston crowns, exhaust valve spindles, and two-stroke chain wheels.

The PrimeServ station is part of the service agreement between MAN and Xinya signed during MarinTec China last year.

Zhoushan Xinya Shipyard general director Xia Songkang said: “With the support from MAN, we are very glad to launch the service centre ahead of schedule.
