Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) is to build a 50,000dwt LNG-fuelled bulk carrier vessel in a deal with Ilshin Logistics.

The vessel will supply limestone cargoes for Posco, which has collaborated with Ilshin Logistics for a similar deal in South Korea. Posco will also supply a new variety of manganese-rich cryogenic steel rich that it has developed, for use in the vessel’s LNG fuel tank.

“The new vessel will be provided with dual classification and certification.”

The new vessel will be provided with dual classification and certification by Lloyd’s Register and the Korean Register in order to comply with the International Gas Fuel (IGF) Code.

Damen has received an order for three new vessels, to be operated in and around the port of Italy’s Livorno, from Fratelli Neri, a harbour towage company based in Italy.

The vessels include an ASD Tug 2913, a Stan Tug 1606, and a Stan Launch 1305, which will be used to provide a range of environmental services.
