Helix Energy Solutions Group’s robotics subsidiary Canyon Offshore has entered into an agreement with McDermott International to deliver remotely operated vehicle (ROV) services for its vessels.

The contract will involve providing McDermott’s fleet of subsea construction and pipelay support vessels with ROV services and equipment deployment, including dual 3,000m ROV systems on-board.

Work under the fixed-term contract will be delivered for three years with the option for an extended period. Contract services and equipment mobilisation are expected to begin mid-year.

"[We] look forward to providing a value-added service to McDermott on all of their subsea support vessels."

Three of the vessels will initially be fitted with six ROV systems and, as part of the agreement, Canyon will also supply tooling, personnel and ROV project support to McDermott.

The ROV systems will be installed on vessels, including the North Ocean 102, Lay Vessel North Ocean 105, Lay Vessel 108 and the Derrick Lay Vessel 2000.

Canyon president Ian Edmonstone said: "We are extremely proud that McDermott has chosen Canyon to support their subsea project ROV needs and look forward to providing a value-added service to McDermott on all of their subsea support vessels."

"We believe McDermott selected Canyon based on our track record of deep-water construction ROV services, our quality and safety systems and most importantly, our experienced staff of operators."
