Solace

UK-based maritime, offshore and land-based environments security provider Solace Global is launching a new City & Guilds Maritime Security Operative (MSO) course at The Bournemouth & Poole College in Dorset.

Solace Global launched its own City & Guilds Level 3 MSO course after establishing a training cell in October. The first batch will start in January 2014.

The new course will be launched alongside the First Person on Scene Intermediate (FPOSi) qualification.

According to Solace, the content for the new MSO course has been created in accordance with the new maritime security standards ISO PAS 28007.

Solace will require all of its MSOs to obtain both qualifications from July 2014.

The company has appointed instructors to teach the courses at Bournemouth & Poole College’s training centre.

Solace Global training director Mark Knowles said that the company understands that the industry requirement for security contractors to remain qualified is costly and constantly changing.

“The market is also saturated with low-quality training providers whose qualifications aren’t accepted by many of the leading private maritime security companies,” Knowles added.

“The training cell at Solace Global has worked extremely hard to establish an audited list of providers and to develop our own courses that not only exceed industry standards, but are the most competitively priced in the UK.”

Bournemouth & Poole College sales and customer account manager Matthew Butcher said that the college has a real focus on the marine sector and supporting the whole range of skills the industry needs.

“Solace is the ideal partner for us due to their unrivalled expertise and commitment to deliver the standard of training our customers expect,” Butcher added.
