Wärtsilä has secured a contract to provide the main engines for Genting Hong Kong's new expedition mega yacht, which is due to be built as part of the 'Endeavor' class of vessels.

The contract also includes an option for two additional vessels that would also fall under the Endeavor series.

Wärtsilä will supply four of its 6-cylinder Wärtsilä 32 engines under the new deal, which will be combined with the company's NOx Reducer (NOR) systems to provide electrical power for the ship.

The system will also enable the operator to comply with the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Tier III exhaust emission regulations. Delivery of the contracted equipment is scheduled by next year.

Wärtsilä marine solution engine sales vice-president Lars Anderson said: “The Wärtsilä 32 engine is extremely well proven and features excellent reliability and easy maintenance, both of which were important factors in its selection.”

"Germany-based Mv Werften yards will build the new vessel, which is set to be the world’s largest expedition mega yacht with ice-class certification."
