Finland-based Wartsila has secured an order to deliver its cargo handling and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) fuel supply systems for two new very large gas carrier (VLGC) vessels.
The vessels are being built for Oriental Energy at the Jiangnan yard in China.

With a capacity of 93,000cbm, they are said to be one of the biggest of their kinds to ever be constructed.
Wartsila received the order in April and plans to supply the equipment in July next year.
Along with the cargo handling system, the company will also supply its LPG Fuel Supply System (LFSS) as part of the entire gas handling deployment.
Wartsila claims to be the sole company with LFSS units in operation as of now.

We have established a strong relationship with the Jiangnan shipyard and look forward to working with them again on this project.”
Similar systems have previously been supplied to two Oriental Energy VLGCs by Wartsila.
Last month, Wartsila and Morocco’s Port of Tanger Med teamed up to jointly develop a new Port Management Information System (PMIS) that will enhance operational efficiency, port safety and environmental sustainability via data exchange.
The partners will work together to deploy Smart Port tools, including Just-In-Time (JIT) solutions, machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI), for port digitalisation and operations.
