Norwegian ship management company OSM Maritime Group has been selected to provide crew management services for Denmark-based Lauritzen Kosan’s entire fleet of liquefied gas tankers.
The deal will cover 26 units of refrigerated ethylene, semi-refrigerated and pressurised gas carriers.
It will also help Lauritzen Kosan to achieve its goal of offering maximum efficiency, safety, quality and value for its energy and petrochemical customers worldwide.
OSM Maritime Group Crew Management managing director Tommy Olofsen said: “We’re obviously delighted to announce this partnership, which will see us assume crew management duties across their state-of-the-art fleet from December this year.
“Our proven expertise in this specialist sector, combined with our focus on developing crew competence and utilising the most efficient management processes and systems, will help Lauritzen Kosan deliver optimal customer services and maintain its competitive edge in the marketplace.”
OSM Crew Management in Copenhagen, Denmark, is set to coordinate activities for Lauritzen Kosan under the new arrangement.
OSM’s Manila-based office in the Philippines will carry out the crew agency works and is currently hiring additional expert seafarers for the project.
Lauritzen Kosan senior vice-president and fleet management head Claus Graugaard said: “Our Fleet Management Value Proposition is focused on delivering the highest standards for our customers, and our crew members are key facilitators in this regard.
“In partnership with OSM we’ll focus on crew training and further competence development, ensuring that we have the very best people to meet the growing demands in this specialist sector.”
OSM has won several deals to provide its services to various companies’ shipping fleets so far this year, including JP Morgan, Statoil and Scorpio.
