Princess Cruises has announced that it has extended the suspension of global ship operations to the end of August this year.

The suspension was extended due to decreased flight availability and port closures introduced to help fight the global Covid-19 pandemic.

Emerald Princess and Ruby Princess Alaska cruises have been cancelled along with the remaining Europe and Transatlantic cruises on Sky Princess, Crown Princess, Enchanted Princess, Regal Princess and Island Princess.

The company has also cancelled Summer Caribbean and Canada and New England cruise trips on the Sky Princess and Caribbean Princess.

Summer to Fall cruise trips on Diamond Princess from Japan, Sapphire Princess and Sea Princess’ Australia-based cruises through August, Majestic Princess’ July cruise trips from Taiwan and fall cruises to Hawaii and French Polynesia through November on Pacific Princess have also cancelled.

Princess Cruises president Jan Swartz said: “As the world is still preparing to resume travel, it is with much disappointment that we announce an extension of our pause of global ship operations and the cancellation of cruise vacations for our loyal guests.

Guests who have paid the fare in full for the cancelled cruises will receive Future Cruise Credit (FCC) equivalent to the cruise fare paid along with additional FCC equal to 25% of the cruise fare.

The guests who did not pay in full will receive double the deposit with a refundable FCC for the deposit money along with a matching bonus FCC. The credit can be used on any cruise until 1 May 2022.

If a passenger does not want the future credit, they can request a full refund for money paid by 15 June using an online form.

In March, Princess Cruises decided to stop all cruise trips for two months in response to the global outbreak of Covid-19.

Earlier this year, three of the company’s ships, Diamond Princess, Grand Princess and Ruby Princess, have reported an increase in the confirmed cases onboard and after disembarkation.
