Hong Kong health authorities have stated that the passengers aboard Dream Cruises’ World Dream cruise ship were allowed to disembark after the completion of control measures.

Last week, the ship was quarantined at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal in Hong Kong as three passengers previously tested positive.

All the 1,800 crew members on board, who may have been in contact with the infected passengers, tested negative for the virus.

The passengers were not required to undergo testing as they were not in contact with the infected.

The people will not be required to undergo the 14-day quarantine.

South China Morning Post quoted chief port officer Leung Yiu-hong as saying that the testing was completed within a day with the help of extra manpower to collect the samples and for laboratory work.

Officials are currently tracking down the passengers who may have been in contact with the infected passengers on the previous trip.

The epidemic originated in Wuhan, China, and has so far killed 910 and infected 40,546 people.

Hong Kong has 38 confirmed cases with one death.

A second cruise ship, Diamond Princess, is currently quarantined in Yokohoma, Japan, where the number of confirmed cases has increased to 135.
