Yara Marine Technologies has been selected by Stolt Tankers to deploy the FuelOpt propulsion optimisation technology on its vessels.

Under the deal, Stolt Tankers will deploy the technology on seven tankers.

The latest order was placed by Stolt Tankers after the installation and assessment of the technology on board the Stolt Breland at the start of the year.

Stolt Tankers, which claims to run the largest fleet of chemical tankers in the world, aims to lower emissions by prioritising voyage efficiency solutions.

Compatible with any marine fuel, FuelOpt is said to boost fuel savings through energy efficiency.

Designed for installation on older vessels or newbuilds, the propulsion optimisation technology is also compatible with any propeller or engine.

In April, Yara Marine won a contract for the supply of shore power solutions for Swedish shipping line company Stena Line’s vessels.

To help Stena Line lower its fleet’s carbon emissions, Yara Marine will deploy its shore power solution on board four ferries.
