The Allure of the Seas cruise ship is owned by Royal Caribbean International, a US-based cruise operator.
The Oasis Class vessel was constructed at STX Europe’s Turku Shipyard in Finland with an investment of $1.2bn.
The keel of the ship was laid at the shipyard in December 2008, and it was delivered in October 2010.
Allure of the Seas embarked on its maiden voyage in December 2010 in the east and west of the Caribbean.
The ship was out of service in February 2014 as she underwent repairs at Grand Bahama Shipyard in Freeport, Bahamas, after experiencing bearing wear in one of the propulsion motors.
In 2019, Royal Caribbean planned a 58-day, $165m refurbishment of Allure of the Seas as part of Royal Caribbean’s fleetwide Royal Amplified programme, which also included the modernisation of its sister ship, Oasis of the Seas.
However, the planned transformation was suspended due to the global shutdown caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The cruise ship eventually underwent a $100m refit in 2025 at the Navantia shipyard in Cadiz, Spain. The overhaul included the addition of new amenities and upgrades to the vessel.
Allure of the Seas returned to service in April 2025, following the completion of the refurbishment.
