Crystal Debussy introduces four new river cruises into its fleet.

Crystal Debussy is one of the four identical Rhine-Class luxury river cruise ships being built for Crystal River Cruises by MV WERFTEN at its Wismar shipyard in Germany.

Construction began on the vessel and its sister ship Crystal Ravel following a steel cutting ceremony held in January 2017. Delivery of the ships is scheduled in spring 2018, when they will sail on the Rhine, the Main, the Danube, and the Moselle rivers.

The remaining two ships in class include Crystal Bach and Crystal Mahler, which are expected to be delivered in June and August 2017 respectively.

Crystal Debussy will embark on its maiden voyage in April 2018 from Amsterdam on a seven-day round-trip itinerary covering Rotterdam and the Netherlands, as well as Ghent, Antwerp, and Middelberg in Belgium.

Crystal Debussy design and features

The design of Crystal Debussy meets the demand of the growing European luxury river cruise market. The ship will also comply with safety and travel standards.

Staff and crew cabins of the ship will be positioned aft of the lower deck, which will also house an engine room and fuel tanks. The forward section of the deck will accommodate ballast and fresh-water tanks.

Luxury suites and galley areas are being designed by ALMACO Group under contract with MV WERFTEN. The six-star rated cruiser will offer a high guest-crew ratio.

The river boat will measure 135m long by 11m wide and will have a gross tonnage of 3,100t. It will feature four passenger decks and accommodate up to up to 106 passengers complemented by a crew of 55.

The stateroom categories aboard the vessel will include a two-bedroom Crystal Suite, the River Suite Deluxe, and the Petite Suite, which will all feature panoramic balcony windows.

The 759ft² two-bedroom Crystal Suite will be furnished with king-size beds, a bath room, seating area, and dining table, with seating for four guests. The River Suite Deluxe cabins will occupy an area of 250ft² and will feature a bathroom with double vanities, walk-in wardrobes, American king-size beds, a coffee machine, and a refrigerator.

The Petite Suites will extend over an area of 188ft² and will be furnished with a king-size bed, full-length mirror, and a bathroom with a glass-enclosed shower and hairdryer. The in-suite amenities will include a wall-mounted HD television, a refrigerator, and a coffee machine.

Butler service will be offered for all room categories.

Dining and entertainment venues on Crystal Debussy

The river cruise ships will feature three gourmet restaurants, Waterside, Bistro Cafe, and The Vintage Room. The Waterside will be the main dining room serving breakfast, lunch, and an open-seating diner.

The Bistro Cafe will offer renowned coffees, charcuterie and pastries, while the Vintage Room will serve the guests special wine-pairing dinners. Deck 4 will feature a sun deck bar and grill with large-screen TV.

The Palm Court will be equipped with a dance floor, seating areas, a bar, and a glass-domed roof. Other entertainment and wellness facilities will include a swimming pool, a library, a spa and a fitness centre, as well as sporting equipment including electric bicycles, kayaks, and jet skis.
