Comsys Receives Orders for Active THD Filtering on 18 Tankers

Comsys has received orders to provide active THD filtering for a total of 18 oil / chemical tankers in various new building and retrofit projects.

Comsys ADF Power Tuning is a powerful tool, which reduces harmonics in a ship’s electrical grid.

The implementation of variable frequency drives (VFD) increase dramatically to save energy in large ship-board systems. The flipside is a deteriorating power quality, especially increased levels of harmonics. The solutions require some type of filtering and in cases with multiple drives of different sizes this can become bulky, costly and complex.

Comsys’ ADF Power Tuning simplifies the system design and enables a future-proof application of multiple VFDs with only one filter system. ADFs flexibility works well with the ships dynamic supply and demand characteristics.
