BIO-UV/BIO-SEA has specialised in ultraviolet water treatment for more than 15 years. The company designs and manufactures the first and only system developed in France for the treatment of ballast water. More than 50,000 BIO-UV global water treatment systems have been installed worldwide.
BIO-UV provides safe, efficient solutions, ensuring proper water quality. Every day, the design and engineering office of BIO-UV responds to all requirements for new buildings and retrofit projects.
BIO-UV designs complete ballast water treatment system, BIO-SEA®, which combines mechanical filtration and UV disinfection, without any chemical treatment.
The BIO-SEA product range is designed and manufactured in Lunel, France, and since its launch, BIO-SEA has supplied a variety of famous shipyards, working with several major French, and international ship owners.
Having obtained type approval from Bureau Veritas, under the control of the French Government, but also the USCG AMS and other certifications from Class Societies (Lloyd’s Register, ABS, DNV-GL, RMRS), BIO-SEA is now marketed throughout the world, in order to deal with a large spectra of water quality (fresh, brackish, marine), taking into account possible low transmittance.
BIO-SEA has reinforced its development thanks to its extended international sales and service network, and is now under process of obtaining USCG type approval for its genuine system range.
BIO-SEA offers two different models of filter, one standard and the other compact. The performance of both systems is identical, with the housing material, overall shape and position of the filters varying.
The standard filter is available in either vertical or horizontal configurations, depending on circumstances, and the compact is only vertical. An automatic backwash system, monitored by a pressure switch, as well as a 20µm filtering element to retain suspended solids and zooplankton.
The filters also house an additional suction pump to allow for a complete cleaning cycle, regardless of vessel service pressure. There is no disruption to the filtration process during the cleaning process.
BIO-UV/BIO-SEA has provided ultraviolet solutions in the form of UV sanitisers for water disinfection and purification since May 2000.
The sanitisers are fitted with reactors, which are equipped with a single, polychromatic ultraviolet lamp. The UV lamp is high-intensity and medium-pressure, driven by electronic ballast to allow precise management. This precision is necessary in reducing power consumption, prolonging the life of the lamp.
The UV sanitisers’ modular design allows for the facilitation of ultraviolet reactor installation, as well as better flow adjustment.
BIO-UV/BIO-SEA offer automated operation and monitoring through the use of ultraviolet sensors, temperature sensors, differential pressure switches, end stroke switches and flow meters.
The control interface is touchscreen operated, allowing for easy access, use and understanding. To suit your needs, the interface also comes with both operator and administrator modes, and operation can be either manual or automatic.
Records are available of alarms, operations and measured ultraviolet intensity, spanning a timeframe of up to 24 months.
