Cargotec’s business unit MacGregor has secured three orders worth €90m for the delivery of comprehensive packages of roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) equipment for 15 pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) vessels.

It includes two ‘significant’ orders as well as one ‘major’ order for RoRo equipment.

This will equip vessels, which will be constructed at three shipyards in China and South Korea for three different ship owners.

MacGregor will be responsible for the design, supply, and installation of RoRo and car deck equipment on these ships.

The company will deliver quarter ramps, side ramps, deck levels of liftable car deck panels, various internal ramps, pilot and bunker doors to the vessels.

Furthermore, MacGregor will supply deck machinery to some of the ships.

Ship owners are expected to receive these vessels between the third quarter of 2024 and the third quarter of 2026.

MacGregor merchant solutions senior vice president Magnus Sjöberg said: “The year 2022 has been exceptionally successful for us in the PCTC market, and we are very happy and proud of our customers’ trust in us.

“We want to be a reliable and strong partner for them, and help them excel in their business. Our successes have been built on our state-of-the-art designs and strong support to the customer starting from the early phases of the projects, and our capability to support them through the whole lifecycle of the vessels worldwide.”

This year in September, MacGregor received an order from German shipping firm Hapag-Lloyd to deliver container lashing systems for 12 containerships.
