DHI Ballast Water Testing Process

Testing ballast water management systems (BWMS) for type approval requires preparation by manufacturers.

DHI can facilitate a scoping seminar, during which the manufacturer discusses the capabilities and challenges of the system with us, before entering into a contract for approval testing. During the scoping seminar we will:

  • Share historical data of the diverse types of organisms that occur in the natural waters used by our test facilities
  • Discuss the challenges our test waters pose to treatment by the BWMS
  • Discuss the possibilities for designing pilot tests
