Finland-based global welding automation leader Pemamek Oy has named Tuomo Ruuska Director of Segment Sales and Development of the company’s Heavy Equipment segment.

Ruuska is focused on supporting global sales of the company’s automated welding solutions for heavy equipment applications and further customer development. Ruuska plans to use market research data collected to fuel product development and sales efforts to better anticipate future industry needs and challenges to help Pemamek best meet those needs.

“The automated welding industry changes rapidly and there’s much potential for us to strengthen our position as the leading solution provider,” said Ruuska. “By truly learning to understand industry needs and developing our capability to think outside of the box, we can be the best partner for our customers.”

Before joining Pemamek, Ruuska was the Sales Director for the Automation and Projects Division of Helsinki-based Kalmar (part of Cargotec Corp.), a leader in terminal automation and energy-efficient container handling. During his 15 years at Kalmar, Ruuska held various sales and project management positions, including a three-year mega automation project in Los Angeles.

Ruuska, a native of Finland who grew up in Sweden, is also a Finnish Army paratrooper.

“Pemamek is big and global but at the same time it feels smaller because it is a family company,” Ruuska said. “It breathes the company’s family values, is dynamic and human-oriented, and people work as a team. Additionally, the business is based on consultative solution sales, which provides interesting challenges.”

Pemamek applies all welding technologies including GMAW, SAW, Laser Hybrid and multi-gun systems to significantly increase throughput on heavy fabrication lines. Single units of equipment can be combined with robotized welding, integrated milling, and custom assembly stations to fulfill specific productivity requirements.
