LA Maritime Aquamarine

As of 1 January 2015, IMO Marpol Annex VI requires the switching from heavy fuel oil (HFO) to distillate diesel fuels of less than 0.1% sulphur content (MDO / MGO) when entering an emission control area (ECA) zone.

L.A. Maritime Services is pleased announce a new cooperation with Aquametro AG of Switzerland. As the exclusive North American representative of Aquametro, L.A. Maritime now offers both sales and service of the Aquametro diesel switch system, which quickly and reliably accomplishes this traditionally complicated and time-consuming task.

Because switching fuels too rapidly can cause thermal changes and stress the fuel injection system, thus leading to a possible dangerous loss of engine power, traditional fuel-switching has been controlled by class rules and took as long as six hours.

With Aquametro’s alarm-controlled diesel switch, the change-over can take as little as 1.5 hours. Aquametro is fully compliant with class rules and engine manufacturer specifications.

And, with remote monitoring, onshore fleet managers can supervise the fuel-switching of just one vessel or the entire fleet. Or the entire procedure can be operated on-board without remote monitoring.

Aquametro increases the amount of burnable fuel, while preventing thermal damage of the engine, and lowering NOx emissions and particulates in exhaust gases.

Aquametro’s fuel treatment systems include fuel management changeover, STU-sludge treatment, fuel treatment, and WFE-water in fuel emulsion.

Fuel performance measurement advantages for the ship owner:

  • Measures all fuel input
  • Measures all power output
  • Maintains clean turbo charger and economiser
  • Reduces wear on fuel injection components
  • Accurate viscosity control for perfect combustion
  • Minimum maintenance
  • Easy retrofit
  • Clean air In coastal environments
  • Full compliance with IMO means no fines or detentions for your vessel

L.A. Maritime offers factory-authorised consultation and installation of Aquametro devices. Complete engineering details on the operational process are available also.
