Northrop Grumman Corporation now includes AIO as part of the latest VisionMaster FT (VMFT) software, which makes additional chart information available to ship captains when using its electronic chart display and information system (ECDIS) models.

In the past, navigators have relied on the ADMIRALTY T&P NMs to manually update their paper charts. AIO is a free service included with the ADMIRALTY Vector Chart Service (AVCS).

The overlay contains worldwide ADMIRALTY Temporary and Preliminary Notices to Mariners (T&P NMs) to be used in conjunction with ENCs. AIO is also the only service to include ENC Preliminary Notices to Mariners (EPNMs), the result of the ADMIRALTY Assurance Programme, a comprehensive review of the world’s Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs) undertaken by the UKHO to identify and resolve significant differences between ENCs and existing paper charts.

"With Northrop Grumman Sperry Marine now delivering an ECDIS that is compatible with AIO, we can offer our customers a product which will enable them to plan and execute updated routes with increased safety and efficiency," said Jeanne A. Usher, managing director, Northrop Grumman Sperry Marine.

Hugh Phillips, head of products, United Kingdom hydrographic office: "We are very pleased to be working together with Northrop Grumman Sperry Marine in order to provide ECDIS users with the essential navigational information provided by AIO."
