Hamburg, Germany – Caterpillar Marine Power Systems (CMPS) has expanded its presence on the US Gulf Coast by opening a new regional office in Mandeville, near New Orleans. The office, which opened in August, is another milestone in Caterpillar’s strategy of bringing its marine sales and service management closer to its customers.

When all the CMPS offices world-wide are taken into account, the organisation now comprises more than 300 dedicated marine professionals, plus thousands of related engine experts in research, development, manufacturing and at dealerships around the globe. The Mandeville office serves as another new base for marine sales, product support and finance personnel, specifically geared to supporting customers and dealers on the Gulf Coast and in the Mississippi River region. Additional support for these important markets is provided out of the CMPS Americas Marine regional headquarters in Miramar, Florida.

When it comes to powering tugs, work boats and offshore supply vessels in North America, Caterpillar, with its Cat® 3500 and Cat 3600/C280 marine engine series, is a front runner. And Mandeville just happens to be within driving distance of key CMPS commercial marine product customers, including Edison Chouest Offshore, Hornbeck Offshore, Tidewater and Florida Marine Transporters.

“The opening of the Mandeville office further demonstrates CMPS’ commitment to the marine industry,” said P. Jaime Tetrault, division manager Americas, CMPS, Miramar. “In addition to being closer to our customers, we are now positioned even better to provide the premier sales and product support that customers expect when they purchase the Caterpillar product.”

CMPS has its international headquarters in Hamburg, Germany, which also serves as the regional headquarters for marine business in the EAME (Europe, Africa and Middle East) territory. In addition, there are three regional CMPS headquarters around the globe: Miramar, Florida, in the USA, manages the Americas marine business; Shanghai, in the P.R. China, serves China and the North of Asia Pacific; and Singapore manages marine business in the South of Asia and Australia.

Furthermore, a few regional offices provide tailored support to regional clients. Among them are: Mossville, Illinois; Lafayette, Indiana; Greenville, South Carolina (all in the USA); Melbourne, Australia; Bangalore, India; Tokyo, Japan; Moscow, Russia; Wimborne, UK; and Kiel, Germany. In addition to that, about 2,100 dealer locations around the world offer customer support and spare parts when needed. More importantly, 120,000 global dealer employees are dedicated to providing maximum customer care. Along with 100,000 Caterpillar employees world-wide, whose job is to provide product and manufacturing excellence, they make up the unique Team Caterpillar.
